ok, my times. today we went to an arts and crafts festival. one of many in the area over the summer and fall around here, i swear this must be arts and crafts festival territory or something. anyway, decided to count the steps and turn them into mileage since we did a lot of walking! steps: 10,555, rounded to 10,000 or ~ 5 milestime? if i figure maybe a third of the time walking and two thirds of the time browsing, then maybe about 1.5 hours ( 90 minutes). looks like we are all a little sore today. my back and SI held up remarkably well, but my hips, knees, feet, OY! but a hot bath when i got home and lots of peppermint lotion to the feet and some ice and a nap (in front of the tv of course!) and, well, recovering. hubby and i both so beat at the end of the day (he and his art group had a booth at the festival (nonprofit so free, the fees are so expensive to sell anything), good thing i picked up barbecue (pulled pork) on the way home, then just had to open a can of black beans, doctor them up a little, slice some tomatoes, add a few herbs......we were both practically falling asleep at the dinner table.

Ditto! Everyone gets to swim, no matter their speed. I have found that the majority of people in the pool are there for some sort of ailment, as opposed to being swimming enthusiasts. At our pool we have a SLOW lane, a MEDIUM lane, and a FAST lane. But many days it's a SLOW lane, a SLOWER lane, and a DOGPADDLING WHILE MOVING FORWARD lane. Go TEAM!

Brilliant idea! How do you count steps? Do you have one of this little handy dandy belt clip counters? Isn't it amazing how much exercise we get when we're goofing off? Go TEAM!

Yipee! Hello Jan Hope you get the lanes cracked at the swimming pool. I agree with the others, usually you get fast and slow lanes to do laps. In my experience fast means rocket fuel required and slow lane means anything faster than going backwards or staying in one place is absolutely acceptable! As far as choice of stroke - anything goes! Don't be shy.

SWIMMING: 11,780 yards/metres 373 minutes
WALKING: 16 miles 370 minutes
Erica, how many miles shall I put for your 40 minute walk, hon?
BIKING: 19.5 miles 95 minutes
TAI CHI: 90 minutes
TOTAL TIME SPENT ON EXERCISE UP TO MONDAY 928 minutes this is approximately 15 hours!

yes, i have a pedometer. and at one point i walked a known mile with it on to calibrate it, that number long forgotten, but think 10,000 steps = ~ 5 miles about right.
one of the things i like about the summer festivals is that it keeps me moving, walking around, up on my feet, vs sitting which is just plain bad no matter how you look at it, for me at least.
that pedometer, given to everyone at work doing this "eat right, live right" x-week program. at first i thought a good idea, get people eating right and exercising. but many people in my department, gorging themselves on bags of dried fruit to "win". nothing like sugar induced diabetes. a good idea run amuck, and i don't need a program like that to eat well, my body lets me know how i'm doing, so never participated again, but got to keep the handy dandy pedometer, which i only use if doing a lot of walking about.
