Phannu - I want to wish you the best of luck with this. I assume you've read the stories by Ineptwill, Wolverinefan and JamesB.

How interesting to see you are a musician like Ineptwill.

I hope your surgery goes fabulously and the results are everything you hope for.

Wow Phannu, your picture reminds me of me. A double bass player (Jazz? Classical?). The surgery will be amazing and your life will change so fabulously dramatically. The moment I realised that after so so many years I was straight again was treasured. I have never had a moment in my life like that. When your moment comes the week after next, savour every drop of it

my very best to you.

Hey Phannu,

Best of luck to you for a successful outcome for your surgery, and a speedy recovery- just remember to take it one day at a time after your surgery - and have ALL the pain relief they are offering you! Apparently lemonade is good too!

Remember to obey the nasty physio that will no doubt come to torment you! eek

Louise - physio by day, spondy by default... mad

I am humbled. Never in my life have I had people to talk to about the AS experience. Thanks WendyR, ineptwill, inkyfingers, Kevin_A and Donette for your concern about my surgery. I have not seen the posts from Wolverinefan and JamesB. I need directions. One question I do have is the clothing I should get for post surgery and wearing a TLSO body brace. Anyone have thoughts?

Thanks for your story. I play Jazz. Standing with the bass is the only spot I've felt normal.

Smooth Jazz? Wow me too (piano) I like smooth Jazz because is generally slow and I can get my aged fingers around it better.

After surgery, loose clothing that you can get on and off easilyfootwear critical I had bedroom slippers and almost fell because of them so something non slip and a good controlled fit. Nice warm and slightly over large dressing gown to afford a little easy privacy.

Goodness I am so excited for you, it is like a re-run for me......enjoy the whole experience, there will be times when you swear, but enjoy it, this is a life changing procedure, I think I am actually a little jealous.

Do you like the Jacques Loussier trio? Which bassists do you admire?

I adored Pierre Nicholas who supported the frenchman Geaorge Brassens, a stunningly good player
