I picked up my xray results. I now have a question I hope you all can help with.

Can Osteopenic be reversed? My xrays are indicating I possibly have this.

I do not drink much milk. Not much pop, mainly tap drink water.
I was heavy into weight lifting but stopped it 15 years ago.
I also hardly go outside for I quickly get a mask when exposed to the sunlight. Also freckles go crazy on me from the sun.

Only instructions dr. gave me was 'don't fall on your butt because your upper body is too heavy. You need to lose another 50 lbs.' My gosh losing 50 lbs. will mean I will just weigh 100 lbs. Skeleton. That is too unhealthy for me. frown

Tuesday I begin physiotherapy for the scoliosis. I was warned it would be painful. ;( I know it will be but has to be done so I can exercise my spine.

Hi Magician - (thanks Sue): Yes, you can reverse it. Takes patience.

Strontium Citrate. Can purchase over the counter. Any good herbal outlet should be selling. I get mine from BodyKind, a Canadian Co. who have an outlet in the UK. I order over the phone, pay by cc over the phone and they send me.

OK. Now, as well as Strontium Citrate, you'll need Vit-K2; Vit-D; Calcium.

Take the Strontium at either end of the day. Take the calcium sometime middle of day and Vit-K2 & Vit-D some other part of the day. Important not to take the Strontium Citrate with the calcium.

Keep to this regime and you'll be right.

Lot of information here on the boards on Strontium Citrate that I have posted in the past. S'Citrate helps in hardening bone and also does not stop the turnover of bone. Bone regenerates. The problem with the Bisphosphonate drugs, as in Actonel, Risondronate etc (two of seveal) is that they stop the turnover of bone, so bone does not renew, and the drug hardens off old bone to the point eventually that the old bone becomes brittle anyway! Also 'can' cause osteonecrosis of the jaw (phossy-jaw), jaw bone death. Lovely. (Court cases taking place in the US over this very side effect problem. Going to be expensive for the drug Cos.!)

The very worst is to have Bis drugs by infusion...can lead very fast to phossy-jaw! Oh yes. Summat else with the Bid drugs. IF ever on em, got to advise your dentist. Dentsts will be leery of doing any heavy treatment, and removing teethm IF you are on Bid drugs. Over here in France, you have to fill out a paper advising of what drugs you take, the Bis drugs are listed... UK are 'beginning' to follow suit.

Strontium Citrate does have a small side effect, can make one a tad constipated. Has never bothered me, but 'can' happen. Also, IF one has clotty blood, then one is advised to steer clear of S'Citrate.

But anyways. Never take owt unless and until you have run it past your GP.

Whatever you do, IF you ever fall over the Protellous Strontium Citrate (made by Servier, Neuilly, France) leave it well alone. Stuff is buffered with Aspartame. Aspartame and all those sweeteners are not good at all. Very bad in fact.

Go well -

My friend reversed her osteopenia with meds and weight bearing exercise.

Vitamin c also builds strong bones.

Yes - Vit-C and Magnesium, both, are very good. Also the weight bearing exercises. Excellent.

With a full regime in place you'll be right for life.

This morning for the first time in a couple of years I began taking my chelated gluton free Calcium, zinc, magnesium + Vitamin D pill with my meal. Also took my chelated digestive aid pill.

Pharmacist told me to consider the Osteopenia my personal warning. eeek frown

Double whammy. Scoliosis and Osteopenia. Evil companions.

I have never heard of Strontium Citrate. I was thinking along the lines of Fosamax. Or Boniva (Sally Field commercial).

Aspartame is in everything! Here's an evil gum: Trident Layers. Husband bought me a pkg. to try. First warning for me: it is sugar free. I always believe in sugar, no fake crap. This gum has Sorbitol, Mannitol, Aspartame, Sucralose and some other sweetener I can't read on the pkg. The writing (and coloring) of the sweeteners are on the front but the style of text used for it is in PINK and faded. Hard to read. Stay away from this gum! 5 fake sweeteners!

My gosh! frown

very good to hear! I need to get back into weight lifting (small weights) again and more walking.

I have been eating a few oranges each day. I used to avoid them like the plague before.

Commercial... Pharma have a great cash cow invested in the Bisphosphonate drugs.

Check out Strontium Citrate. A lot of info here on these boards. Been in use in Europe for a long time. Is seen to 'work' without the appalling side effects OF the Bis drugs.

Take care -
