I am glad to hear of your family's safety too.

After Katrina, a woman & her husband, and her mother were "relocated" next to me in West Virginia. The mother ended up going home after about 9 months or so as her home was "salvagable".

Kathy & her husband unfortunately lost everything & she told told she would never go back, in spite of being born & raised there.

She said being a middle aged couple trying to start over with absolutely nothing in a state they weren't familiar with wasn't something she ever expected to have to deal with. They had also left their teenage son behind with friends so he could finish out his senior year with some kind of "normalcy".

I remember how trivial my problems seemed after talking with her because most of us have never dealt with anything of the magnitude that all of you did after these hurricanes.

But time does have a way of healing & she & her husband did go back - just over a year or so ago. They were going to a location about 50 miles north, more off the coast this time.

I have thought of them so often these past weeks, hoping & praying for their safety too.

Michelle,

Wow two biggies in a manner of weeks is surely no fun. I hop you are doing ok and did not have a lot of damage. I've not read al the post so have not seen the answers but did want to say you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. I talked to the my oldest in San Antonio Saturady and last night which I was surprised they did not get any wind or rain out of this last system. As much as I love the coast if I lived there full time I would be having doubts about continuing to stay there. Having lived in several states I knnow it is hard to move from one's home but had I not moved from California only months before the big earthquake there in 88 I probably would not be around today since the area I lived was the epic center.

Hope things recover for you quickly,
Brent

Well, we got back to the city and things were pretty good for the most part....a little water in the house, the girls didn't want to tell me until I got home, they didn't want to upset me further....I appreciate that too...

Oh Sue, I'm glad you weren't home when your house was robbed, I think it's neat that you understand how that incident changed your life, a lot of people don't take the time to reflect on things.

Hi Janet and thank you for thinking of us...I'm glad that your neighbor Kathy and her husband found a nice community to relocate to after Katrina hit and I'm glad she had you to talk to about her fears and concerns, many evacuees weren't so fortunate.

Hi Brent...yep, it's been a wild hurricane season, it feels just like the 2005 season, I took a nap and now I'm so stiff and I feel like I've been hit by a bus, my muscles ache. Thanks so much for thinking about us Brent...

Hey Girl,

Bill and I have been keeping close tabs on all the news, we are hoping things will calm down now.

I can't even imagine what you and your family have gone thru, as long as your family is ok you can make it thru anything although I know it has to be hard.

One of my best friends lost everything in a house fire about 5 years ago, she still suffers from it, it was all the pictures and momentos. All the pictures of her kids and us together that I had I copied them and gave them to her but you can never replace it.

I can't believe that Ike reached all the way to Oklahoma on friday night, it was raining in sheets here for several hours.

Hopefully you can settle down a bit now. Still keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,

Lisa

Oh Michelle, I'm relieved to read that you've all made it back to your home in the city. I am sorry there's water in your house there too, you have a couple of very considerate daughters there, I think. Gosh, it just seems so overwhelming the nightmare of days you've just lived through.

If it's given you some power then I'm glad you got to face the demon and bear witness to the death of your home. I've been trying to imagine it, and as much as I've never been through anything even remotely similar, I think I have a tiny sense of understanding from your words and think you are awesome Michelle. I suppose it's a little bit like healthy people who can't know what it's like to live with AS, but really try to. I am just so grateful that you're okay!

Please rest rest rest and rest some more if you can... and give your star doggies a good scritch behind the ears from me for being man's best friends!! Your words about Abigail really got to me.

warmest hugs
mig

Thanks again Ang.....last night was the first real sleep that I've had in 4 or 5 days and I slept so hard that when I woke up this morning, I thought it had all been a bad nightmare but then it hit me....I'm still in it.
