I am so sorry to hear that your house is scheduled for dmeolition and that its too much to try to again rebuild.

Rather than just passing along my sorrow and regards, I wanted to state the obvious and just tell you that I and my wife are amazed by the courage and determination you have shown through your posts. You are amazing and you ability to cope through all this reminds us how we should deal with our challenges.

Thanks Steve, I really appreciate that, yall have been really instumental in keeping me sane but I feel it only fair to come clean.....I'm not always calm, I have been known to rip-up a politician or two over this levee situation, definitely not some of my proudest moments but I have to admit, they had it coming and it felt good.

Oh Michelle,

I am just so sorry!

I know there is nothing to say that will ease the hurt of losing your house. Just know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,

Lisa

Thanks Sue and yes, you are absolutely right about others being in the same boat, actually some are in much worse shape, a whole neighborhood that was denied by FEMA, the reason stated was that there was 0"0' of water and the damage was "insufficient" to qualify them for help.....the entire neighborhood got over 8' of water, so a bunch of us have taken up their cause because they need help, they were all told that they would have to go directly into the appeals process, so it'll be at least 90 days before their case is even reviewed and they've all lost everything, over 50 families that really need that help now, it's frustrating, to say the least and I've already heard many people say that they're leaving, they've had enough and I really can't blame them, it may be time to let it go, you can't keep your family in limbo forever.

Thank you so much Lisa....I appreciate that very much! I think that we should just get a motorhome, that way we can just drive it North for a storm and come back when it's over.... The ironic part about the demolition is that the Army Corps of Engineers is in charge of the demolition work...the same agency that is in charge of the levee system...after they demo your property, they bill you and then you file for reimbursement with your insurance company, they use the records from the parish clerk of court to verify ownership and to file a Right of Entry but last time, they demolished the wrong house, I had three properties listed in my name, two rental properties and our house and I had just owner financed one of the houses to a family and they tore down that one instead of our home and billed me for the work and they never came back, so I had to hire a contractor to come in and demo the house and wound up having to pay out of pocket and then found out that there was no legal recourse against a government agency under the goodwill act(or something like that) and it was just a huge mess and they don't give you a choice in the matter, the Army Corps of Engineers gets the contract and that's that.....this ought to be fun!

I'm sorry, but I think I'm behind on something here. Who's been living in a tent? That just sucks huge.

Warm hugs,

Yeah Kat, it really does stink, several families that make their living on the water had to stay there and they're living in tents, a couple of them took what was left of their savings and bought campers but Lorraine Dyson, who I've known for years has AS and Lupus, she's been really ill the last few years, in and out of the hospital and on the front page of the paper, there's a huge picture of the tents and I was so shocked to see Shirley in a tent. I've got the paper here, I'm going to try and scan it so yall can see.
