Greetings, it has been years since I've posted. I'm trying to get off my TNF inhibitor and looking for more natural ways to proceed forward with my AS.

My brother recently sent me a link to this video (long) from a fellow that wrote a book and sells his cure. If I could paraphrase the theory he proposes - it is that lipids are detrimental to gut health and contribute to leaky gut. He sells a product called Total Restore that is supposed to help repair the lining of your gut.

I'm not so sure about taking this specific supplement because I'm pretty certain it has starchy ingredients in it. My question to the group is, as you look at the ingredient list... do any of you take the components of this label as a part of your supplement regiment?

Thanks!

Hi JasonB,

Honestly I would steer well clear of supplements and eat whole foods instead. Have you tried chicken broth? I have a very simple recipe and complies with NSD if you're into that, it takes about 2 hrs to cook and gets all the gelatin out, gelatin is what you need to eat to repair the gut lining.

1x Onion
half bulb of garlic
- Brown these up first in the pot with some veg oil.

Then add the following:
3 carrots chopped
3 celery sticks chopped
1 table spoons of mixed herbs
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of pepper
1 litre of water
1kg of chicken thighs (no skin) with bones

Put lid on and leave to simmer for 2 hrs.

Eat just as a broth or with sourdough bread or anything else that your gut will allow.

This will make about 4-6 portions. Save the leftovers in the fridge, the stock will go like jelly but that is the good stuff. Just reheat in a pan and it will go liquid again. The gelatin is what's really gonna heal your gut lining.

Let me know how it goes.

Of the list of things in the supplement, glutamine is thought to help repair leaky gut. I take powdered gelatin instead - more cost effective and contains other beneficial amino acids for leaky gut

I also take berberine as an herbal antibiotic for a short stretch every few months, but in substantially larger amounts (i.e., 1000mg, not 3mg)

Note that a bunch of the ingredients are likely starchy: cinnamon, cloves, black pepper. Though the amounts are quite small.

I see you posted this awhile ago...would love to hear how it worked out
