Hi guys
Does glucose syrup contain starch? My favourite snack is sesame snaps but they have a lot of glucose syrup in them.
Cheers

No, it doesn't contain starch. Though glucose syrup (like corn syrup) is made from starch, the starch is broken down through hydrolysis into various sugars.

Sesame seeds, on the other hand....they contain starch. How much depends on whether they are hulled or not:
- unhulled sesame seeds, 100 grams = 5.8 grams starch
- hulled sesame seeds, 100 grams = 0.1 grams starch

Mind you,100 grams is a lot! A few sesame snaps won't have much starch at all. I find I can handle up to 5g starch in a day without triggering stiffness (though only 2g/day when I was first starting out on NSD).
